To become an engineer, you have to pass the engineering license exam

The Nepal Engineering Council Act Amendment Bill has reached the Parliament to make the license examination compulsory. The license examination is being arranged to rectify the shortcomings in the work done by the engineers.
There are currently 51 engineering campuses under Tribhuvan, Pokhara, Eastern, Kathmandu, Midwestern, and Far Western universities. These campuses produce 10,000 engineers a year. In addition, 5,000 students a year study engineering abroad. The Nepal Engineering Council had earlier issued licenses to those who have graduated in engineering on the basis of university certificates. However, after the unhealthy competition in engineering education has affected the work of those who have completed their studies, arrangements have been made to issue licenses only after taking exams. The bill to amend the Engineering Council Act is now in the National Assembly. The bill proposes to conduct a license examination for 6 months. It is believed that the system of issuing licenses only after taking exams will improve the standard of engineering education and will not lead to inferior jobs. Those who have passed the MBBS have to pass the exam to be taken by the Nepal Medical Council to check the patient.
